Knut Dahl-Jørgensen was given by the Norwegian Diabetes Association’s annual Diabetes Research Award for 2018.
He was awarded the prize on the World Diabetes Day, November 14th. Follow the award ceremony and his prize lecture in Norwegian in the video below.
The international award committee emphasized on his recent studies on detecting persistent pancreatic enteroviral infections in type 1 diabetes at the time of diagnosis.
These studies have already resulted in a clinical trial with antiviral drugs, with the goal of saving endogenous insulin production.
