Infant weight gain linked to possible risk of type 1 diabetes

According to the recently published paper “Infant Growth and Risk of Childhood-Onset Type 1 Diabetes in Children From 2 Scandinavian Birth Cohorts” by Maria Magnus and colleagues in JAMA Pediatrics, the risk of type 1 diabetes seems to be higher among children with high weight gain during their first year . However, the increase in risk is low, and most children who gain weight quickly do not develop type 1 diabetes.
