“Our motto is “Diabetes in a life-course perspective.” It reflects how wide we work,” Professor Knut Dahl-Jørgensen said under the opening of the anniversary symposium on March 5th. “The various research groups at Oslo Diabetes Research have a number of partners, both nationally and internationally. Research at our centre includes topics related to genetics, pregnancy, childhood diabetes, epidemiology, biomarkers in endocrinology and metabolism, type 2 diabetes and metabolism, diabetes complications, kidney disease and diabetes in primary care.”

To celebrate our 25th Anniversary two world leading scientists in the fields of diabetes were invited: Professor Matthias von Herrath from La Jolla, California and Professor Leif Groop from the University of Lund.

Some of our own researchers – Professor Hans-Jacob Bangstad, Professor Trond G. Jenssen, consultant Elisabeth Qvigstad, PhD and consultant/PhD student Lars Krogvold – held popular science lectures communicating our research to a wider audience.

The packed auditorium (over 120 listeners) showed both the interest and importance of diabetes Research.
